German VFX outfit RISE who has worked on such films as “Avengers: Endgame” and is currently designing visual effects for the highly anticipated “The Eternals”, “Matrix 4” and “Fantastic Beasts 3” decided, after an evening of hard work and definitely no consumption of sports broadcasts, that it would close down its newly opened London facility.
Marian Dobrunz, Head of Human Resources at RISE, says “things have been said, which are 100% not football or sports related, that lead us to believe the cultural differences between the English and us Germans are unresolvable.”
RISE London Managing Director Lara Lom adds “I have no interest in sports since it would be very unprofessional to say that, since I’m Swiss, I don’t care about last nights game - I’m only happy that Switzerland beat France.”
For whatever reason, despite claiming to close shop in London, RISE is still in the lookout for new staff to fill tons of open positions, be it in the quarter-final location or you know,...best of 16 sounds good as well:

#STOWAWAY (now in theaters in Germany) features a good amount of virtual cinematography. #RISE worked with DMM, now part of #Unity, for Virtual Production and gave the controller to DP #KlemensBecker and director #JoePenna based on early 3D assets for the film and with guidance from #VFX supervisor #JoachimGrüninger and RISE creative director #MarkusDegen. The result was a suspenseful space walk scene, edited by #RyanMorrison, that was then used to plan the shoot. The amazing #IanFailes wrote an article about the process for his insanely interesting blog "befores & afters":

One of the last films to hit the big screen in German theaters before Covid was Jim Knopf und die Wilde 13 by super duper director Dennis Gansel and power producer Christian Becker.
Our amazing team lead by VFX supervisor Andreas Giesen and RISE creative director Markus Degen designed large scale water simulations and developed a pipeline for out-of-this-world-demanding fluid work. Since RISE is a VFX company that was originally founded on seamless, photoreal compositing and strong reference footage based look development, the goal was to create complex CG water that looks 100% believable, no matter how unbelievable its behavior would be.
The film just won the Jupiter Award as Best National Film 2021. Congratulations to everyone at RAT PACK Filmproduktion and Warner Bros. Deutschland!
Jim Button and the Wild 13 is now out on BluRay and VOD platforms.

It was the year 2020 as master storytellers from Marvel Studios embarked on a journey to create an episodic format like the world had never seen before. During the time of Covid and WFH, VFX Supervisor Erik Schneider, VFX Producer Katrin Arndt and their amazing team helped tell the story of people locked away from the real world. They un-blipped, used witch magic, created entire villages out of thin air and moved at unprecedented speed to deliver 318 shots for WandaVision.
WandaVision is now out exclusively on Disney+
