Looking through our archives we discovered a Stowaway file. Co-produced by RISE PICTURES, shot in Munich and Cologne starring Anna Kendrick, #ToniCollette, #ShamierAnderson, Daniel Dae Kim and directed by Joe Penna, RISE Munich got to extend the space craft in CG and send the crew into digital space. Stowaway is now streaming on Netflix and Prime Video.

RISE | Visual Effects Studios, an award winning, leading VFX design studio for film and television, announces construction of the world's largest CRT screen powered Virtual Production stage, the RISE FUTURE STAGE.
Markus Degen, RISE CCO: "We couldn't be more excited. After years of searching, we were able to buy one of the last remaining manufacturing plants of CRT screens in Vietnam, enabling us to exclusively build our own, custom equipment for VFX needs." Since TV series like "The Mandalorian" have revolutionized production of innovative content through virtual production techniques, an entire industry has started digging for gold, bringing the world as a backdrop to filmmakers. Degen adds: "VP is still in its infancy. LED screens tend to create moiré patterns on film, computing power required to display the content is gigantic. With our solution we are solving many issues that filmmakers often encountered: Our CRT screens display the virtual environments at 50Hz, PAL resolution. The computing power needed to create our backdrops is neglectable and as a result green tech that saves the environment." The mastermind behind the technology, RISE CTO Robert Pinnow, always shared a special relationship with CRT monitors and their image quality: "When we started RISE, we drove around picking up the last remaining Sony FW-900 CRT monitors all over Germany. This particular monitor was the foundation of every pixel that built our reputation. With RISE FUTURE STAGE we also fixed real time camera tracking for high fidelity productions - we are 2-point tracking in real time, using only translation, rotation and scaling to get higher refresh rates for BG content."
RISE encourages all filmmakers to check out FUTURE STAGE when construction completes in late 2022. The special lenses required to shoot in this one-of-a-kind environment have the shallowest depth of field imaginable. As with LED powered VP stages, a good amount of defocus is required to make the backgrounds work, making the CRT housing unnoticeable. With RISE | Visual Effects Studios running the stage, clients can rely on a strong partner in VFX to fix all flaws in postproduction that might still be visible in the recording. Sven Pannicke, RISE CFO, is full of joy: "Financially we are double-dipping with Virtual Production and VFX and people are crazy about it. The future is here and it's called RISE FUTURE STAGE!"
